SUMMER 2016 Jazz Workshop

This workshop offers musicians an opportunity to rehearse and perform in a jazz ensemble.  Each session meets once a week for ten weeks (the last session is a public performance).  The workshop will be led by pianist John Roothaan, along with several guest lecturers.  We will focus on ensemble skills, rehearsal techniques, improvisation, expression, stage presence, repertoire, and style.  Open to intermediate- and advanced-level instrumentalists and vocalists age fourteen and up.  Keyboards will be supplied; all other performers must supply their own instruments. Enrollment limited to seven performers.
